Fall 2020 Plan

This Fall, Penn Leads the Vote (PLTV) continues to emphasize the importance of a multi-pronged outreach strategy to increase civic engagement at Penn: online engagement, relational organizing, reverse door-knocking  and institutional programming. For online engagement we are partnering with an online platform called Motivote, where students and PLTV volunteers will be able to complete tasks and track their progress related to civic engagement in addition to receiving Election Day reminders. Through the competition feature on Motivote, we will be spearheading a competition program for different schools on campus. In partnership with the Voter Engagement Council, we have also launched the Quaker Vote Project for student leaders on campus to engage their organizations around voting, creating a coalition of student groups on campus dedicated to increasing voter turnout on campus. Similar partnerships are being forged with sports teams, greek life organizations, and other cohorts on campus. Lastly, we are focusing on working to ensure that voting materials are readily accessible for students on platforms that they already use. This includes developing Canvas modules with voting information, which will be implemented for schools such as the Annenberg School of Communication, the School of Social Policy and Practice, the Nursing School, the Wharton Undergraduate school, and more. We are also working with New School Orientation to include a TAP module for all incoming students with voter information through programming with the “Year of Civic Engagement.” Penn Leads the Vote’s strategy strives to ensure that students receive access to the information and resources necessary to voting by-mail or in-person regardless of what state they are voting in come Election Day.

Students who are interested in being more engaged with PLTV and civic engagement on campus can sign-up to volunteer here. Student leaders of on-campus organizations can sign up here to join the Quaker Vote Project.
